Summer Break Activities, Part II.




Breathe a sigh of relief, sweet friends. Summer break is over in just a few weeks, and then your life (and grocery budget) can resume some sense of normalcy. Just in case you needed a few more activities to pass the time, here's a little brain dump of all the kid distractions I could think of. Have you and your family tried any of these??

Summer Break Activities List


  • Summer camps (obviously)

  • Vacation Bible School (usually free and open to the public!) #whoopwhoop

  • Library programs (also free, and often include activities such as summer reading programs, craft days, story time, pajama story time, STEM activities, math clubs, book clubs, guest speakers/ authors, and puppet shows!

  • Your local Parks and Recreation Department (low cost summer camps, skills camps, organized sports, dance classes, cheer-leading clinics, fun days at the park)

  • Public Pools (include a small fee. Many public pools have water slides, sprinklers, and swimming lessons)

  • Swim and Tennis community (Local neighborhoods often welcome non-residents to sign up for tennis lessons, swim teams/ lessons at a fraction of the cost)

  • the local YMCA ( All the things. Excellent program, but a bit pricey.)

  • Indoor playgrounds/ Malls/ Outdoor Shopping centers

  • Kids Bowl Free ( All you have to do is register your child by clicking the link. Then, your child can bowl two free games everyday (Monday- Saturday) until August 23rd.)

  • Skating rink (Many offer discounted or free skating days throughout the week!)

  • Groupon (All the local deals. Plus, tons of hotel/ travel deals too!)

  • Local restaurants (Several offer discounted/ free meals for kids with the purchase of an adult entree)

  • Local lakes/ beaches (You don't always have to leave town to enjoy the water!)

  • Amusement parks (Check out their summer deals/ coupons/ group rates!)

  • Movie theaters (Summer movies for kids at Regal. Bring the family to the nearest Regal theater for their 2019 Summer Movie Express series! Movie ticket deals are just $1 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays featuring summer movies the whole family will enjoy like Shrek, Despicable Me, Kung Fu Panda and many more.)

  • Summer festivals/ outdoor movies/ carnivals/ food truck festivals
